My Style: Freddie’s of Pinewood Denim

I’ve been a long time customer of Freddie’s of Pinewood Jeans in the U.K for about 9 years now and they are my favourite go to when I want some new denim in my repro wardrobe. Last year I decided to purchase the Home Companion Dungarees due to their great versatility. They have beautifully detailed pockets and the bib front is removable! Allowing you to have dungarees or high waisted jeans, 2 for one! Not only is this value for money but allows for great versatility in your wardrobe.

Freddie's of Pinewood Denim

The dark indigo colour gives it the versatility to be styled vintage or with the right pieces it can be interpreted as modern. I love high waists as they bring attention to your waist and accentuate your curves. There is also a plastic side button that can be moved if you need more room in the waist.

I paired my Home Companion Dungarees with a Trelise Cooper blouse. I’m a huge fan of her bold prints and colour combos.

The legs of the dungarees are long, allowing for turn ups or if you want you can have them taken up. I’m longer in the torso and find them a little short in the rise, though with more wear the denim seems to be relaxing and dropping a little.

Do you own a pair of dungarees and how do you like to style them?

Wigglefin Skirt by Devel Men and Women

The 7th of November brought the annual Atomic Market that hubby and I run at The Classics Museum in Hamilton. We have been running this market for 5 years now and its exciting to see it grow from strength to strength each year. To celebrate I decided to order a WiggleFin  Skirt from one of my favourite NZ designers Devel Men and Women. Dan was great to work with and we came up with a great combination of teal teamed with contrasting black finns. To add a little interest I also requested red buttons to make the pockets pop! I LOVE pockets!

I accessorized with black, red and white to make the red button pop and pull the theme together.

I love how the cut of the skirt creates a great hourglass shape on my figure!

Sweet Painted Lady Lux De Ville Stardust Flat

I also decided to wear flats for the day as I’m running around making sure events etc are running smoothly so when I saw these Lux De Ville Stardust flats I though they were perfect! I wore them for 9 hours and they were super comfy. I got mine from 19Black in Hamilton.

Collectif Clothing Regina Dress Review

The weather is warming up here in New Zealand and that means lots of vintage and pinup events running around the country! I quickly discovered the Collectif Regina Dress is the perfect dress to hop from one occasion to another. suiting both a casual event to a evening calendar launch!

Collectif Regina Dress Pinup NZ

The Regina dress is a popular style for Collectif Clothing , available in a variety of colours and cuts including the wiggle ( above ) or a swing. Perfect for a variety of body types and preferences.

I chose the Regina in the Dusky Blue with classic polka dots. It features  a fixed wrap over top with a flattering sweetheart neckline and elegant cap sleeves for a an elegant bolero look.

Collectif Regina Dress Pinup review

The fabric is 90% Cotton and 10% spandex. This is perfect for this mum on the go as it hugs in all the right places, comfortable and breaths. I love the quality of the fabric as its thick and sits beautifully.

Collectif Dress Pinup NZ

The back features a hidden zip and lovely back split to highlight your lovely legs. The split sits high on me cushioning below my bottom, so for practicality purposes I wear one of my pretty pencil skirt slips to ensure I don’t add a little more tease to my wiggle 😉

The Collectif range and the Regina Dress can be found at 19 Black Modern Pinup Boutique in-store and online.

Swonderful Bonito Swing Dress

I really love to support New Zealand designers and when Natalie of Two Lippy Ladies told me they were going to have Wellington Brand Swonderful in-store I was thrilled! I’m a Wellington born lass and its heartwarming to see local designers producing beautiful clothing while becoming well known for their quality, so today I’m going to share the Bonito Swing Dress from their new collection “La Rosa”.

The Bonito Swing dress comes in black ( 100% Cotton ) and red , and is the perfect dress to wear all seasons and accessorize to suit for all occasions. Liesl and I knew Hamilton Gardens was the perfect place to showcase the Bonito Swing Dress in its beautiful surroundings, so I kept my styling fresh and light! Perfect for a spring day!

Sweet Painted Lady Liesl Friend Photgraphy

The Bonito Swing Dress arrived in a size S, I’m a size 10 and it fit perfectly around my waist and bust. I found the shoulder straps slipped off from time to time while wearing it, however I’m blessed with sloped shoulders so this regularly occurs to me.

Tho bodice is cut in a very flattering sweetheart neckline and features a beautifully lined fitted bodice. I adore the red ric-rac used to trim the shoulder straps, neckline and waist line, adding definition to a classic dress while evoking feelings of 1950’s summery frocks.

Sweet Painted Lady Swonderful Boutique

The skirt is full and gathered so I added a vintage black petticoat underneath to accentuate its fullness while the length is perfect ( 60cm from the waist ) grazing on my knees. I’m 1.57 so this is the ideal length on me!

The Bonito Swing dress is a dream to wear, it took me from frolicking in the gardens to lunching at local cafe Jacks  where I was complemented on it! I can see this being a firm favourite throughout Summer.

The Bonito Swing dress and other Swonderful items are now available in-store and online today at Two Lippy Ladies. Headpiece by Mean Streak Vintage.

Thank you to Liesl Friend for the beautiful images! Liesl is a dream to work with and you can see her images on her instagram.

Lindy Bop Petticoat Review

We have been having some very crisp and stunning blue sky days here  in Hamilton and I have been relishing getting outside and enjoying it while I’m at home. Today I discovered I could manage basic makeup and hair ( yay ) so I dressed up and went for a walk outside, taking my new Lindy Bop petticoat I recently purchased from Two Lippy Ladies for a spin!

Sweet Painted Lady Lindy Bop Review

Amy and I discovered a beautiful wall of artwork from local artist Jeremy Shirley which featured lovely bold colours! Jeremy has been commissioned by the Hamilton City Council to liven up our bus stops and empty walls around the city. Its great to see he is also brightening up our local schools too!

Lindy Bop Petticoat Review 1

Lindy Bop Petticoat Review2I purchased the Classic 26″ Organza Net Mesh Tulle Plum Petticoat in a S which is covers size 8-14. I decided to pair it with my Black Jenny Skirt from Pin Up Girl Clothing to make the most of the fullness and the two layers of organza certainly help with that. My favourite feature of this petticoat ( aside from the colour and volume ) is the stretch waist band and underskirt , they make the fit super comfortable and stop the organza from scratching your legs.

Crown Lynn Bag from Estelle of Brighton

Recently I decided to invest in an Estelle of Brighton handbag after having them on our stand at the Very Vintage Day Out. I have had my eye on the Crown Lynn Swan Handbag since Estelle released her first one and its an iconic vintage symbol of New Zealand’s history so seemed like the obvious choice!

My gorgeous new handbag arrived beautifully wrapped , you can see the package on my instagram here.

Estelle of Brighton

I was thrilled when I opened the package, and found a beautifully made bag with pipped edges, a complementing over the shoulder chain and classic clasp closing. The size is perfect for popping your purse, sunnies, makeup etc in for daily use, I could even throw Corvan’s little snack bag in there for ease – Mummy win!

Estelle of brighton crownlynn

Every detail has been sewn by Estelle, right down to the hand stitched Crown Lynn symbol. I love that the flowers differs from the first Crown Lynn bag Estelle released, cementing that every bag is unique.

The beautiful lining inside that complements the bag perfectly. I’m absolutely thrilled with the Crown Lynn Swan bag and receive so many complements on it. Its the perfect investment piece, retailing at $115 adding some vintage charm to your wardrobe.

I have double the chain for photography purposes.

Voodoo Vixen Ally Cat Dress

I love the change of seasons and Autumn holds the promise of cooler mornings and warm afternoons! Perfect weather for fun, flirty dresses like the Voodoo Vixen Ally Cat dress from Two Lippy Ladies. For years I never wore patterns but now I’m quiet fond of kitschy prints and the “Ally Cat” dress features cute bowling pins all over it, a gorgeous red pussy bow and pockets!

Voodoo Vixen Ally Cat Dress

Amy of Chica Chica Boom Chic and I headed out for a day of coffee and shopping so it was the perfect dress to head out in. I’m quiet fond of the red bias binding on the dress so it seemed perfect to team this with red accessories and my red cardigan.

Voodoo Vixen Ally Cat Dress

The humidity kicked in after a rain shower and the cotton of the dress was light enough not to become clingy nor crease as we moved around town – there’s nothing worse than looking like you forgot to iron!

Voodoo Vixen Ally Cat Dress

Perfect for layering the Winter too! Just add a merino underneath, Cardigan, tights and cute ankle boots and your rockin!

Ethel Houndstooth Swing Dress by Collectif

Recently Two Lippy Ladies brought into stock the beautiful Ethel Swing dress from Collectif and being  a huge sucker for hounds-tooth I couldn’t resist getting one! The swing dress is the perfect classic cut, with box pleats, 3/4 sleeves and sweet collar it reminds me of  Christian Dior’s late 50’s hounds-tooth suiting and dress collection.

The sizing runs true to NZ sizing so I selected the size 10 and found no fit issues when I tried it on, it has no stretch. ( listed as bust 36-38 and waist 28″)  It is the perfect Winter weight  “95% Synthetic fiber 5% Wool” and is also fully lined enhancing the  lovely drape of the fabric.

Collectfil Dress

I received soo many lovely comments while out and about in it and I’m looking forward to wearing it more when the weather cools down. It would be perfect with stockings, boots and a gorgeous jacket! ….and of course gloves!! I’m a sucker for gloves!

Banned Apparel Tropical Bird Dress

Banned Apparel Tropical Bird Dress

It was lovely to spend some time catching up with friends this weekend before the next wave of wedding clients hits again! Saturday we got dolled up ( you can see my outfit on instagram ) and headed to Crazy Diamond Burlesque in Hamilton before enjoying some cocktails at Wonderhorse. I’m quite partial to Cherry Sours at the moment..yum! Today Amy and I headed out, got our nails done, grabbed an ice coffee before heading to some beautiful local gardens and enjoying the stunning Autumn day! Our mornings have been quiet crisp and cool but we are still being hit with the Summer heat midday which is nice! I’m looking forward to Winter as its the perfect excuse for delicious wool coats, hats, gloves, boots and stockings.

Banned Apparel Tropical Bird Dress

I wore my new lovely Tropical Bird dress from Banned Apparel available from Two Lippy Ladies today which I think is my new favourite!
