There has been an increased interest in coffee scrubs on a lot of beauty forums lately and being a thrifty mama I thought I would share with you how to make your own coffee scrub.
Coffee/ Caffeine is my morning pick me up so its no surprise that caffeine can be absorbed by your skin. It increases blood supply, redistributes fat cells, and in some cases reduces your varicose veins as it acts as a vascular restrictor!
In simple terms, it is great for cellulite, calming to irritated skin and off course exfoliates dead skin away. A great alternative to harmful products, filled with small plastic beads that accumulate in our environment.
Here is a quick and easy tutorial for a home made scrub that you can make for yourself or use to make a quick gift for a friend.
You will need:
1 cup of coffee grinds – You could make friends with your local barrister and ask for some daily grinds. I drink Jed’s Coffee Bags later using the grinds from the bags.
1/2 cup Olive Oil Great natural moisturizer
1/4 Brown sugar Helps exfoliate dry skin, lumps and bumps
1/2 tsp Cinnamon Smells delicious – you could add Vanilla or Citrus to your mix to create custom scents
Add all the dry ingredients together. Gradually add the Olive oil, until you get to the desired consistency.
Stir well and then place into a lovely jar – store in the fridge and use within 2 weeks.
You could decorate your jar with Washi craft tape or chalk paint and give your homemade coffee scrub as quick gifts to friends and family.
