The weekend that was: New Zealand Tattoo & Art Festival 2013

I’ve had a great full on weekend and the weather really turned it on with temps well towards 30 degrees!

Saturday Brigette , Brandon I hit the road early and made our way down to New Plymouth for the New Zealand Tattoo and Art Festival. The festival had so much to offer and I was super excited to hear that the organiser Brent had brought Sabina Kelly over for the event. Sabina has always been one of my role models/ idol in the Pin Up scene and I was super excited to meet her.
Brigette was also excited as she had a appt with Tilly Dee from Mimsy’s Trailer Trash Tattoo who had come over from Brisbane for the festival.

Tillys work on Brigette. Brigette is our current Miss Pin Up NZ 2013 and in her speech she said that she loved pinups because they all come in different shapes and sizes…..in this case a juicy pineapple!

I couldn’t get a booking on the day so I purchased an appropriately make up themed print from Tilly.

While waiting fro Brigette to have her arm done and Brandon with his leg I popped up to see Claire and Rose from the Pamper lounge! They had a great set up in the retail section with their Besame and Glorydays stand. I got to step in during the day and help with some vintage hair doo’s when the afternoon crowds rolled in.

Powdering during a break! I love my Sourpuss Brand cardi! It always draws lots of comments and has a cheeky kitty face smiling on the back.

After a busy day Brigette and I realised we had eaten all day and unfortunately there wasn’t many vegetarian options so settled for some hot chips had a quick break and then plucked up the courage to go a meet Sabina. Sabina is really lovely, we introduced ourselves, had a quick conversation and she happily posed with two star struck pin ups!

I finally got to catch up with Venus Starr and Bonita Danger Doll in the evening after all the shows etc. Venus had come up from Wellington to perform and I have been fortunate to perform in her shows. Bonita flew up from Christchurch, we meet at the New Zealand Burlesque Festival and she really is a hot sweetie!
